What is Naturopathy Nutrition?

Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. Wide range of tools is used to asses and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows the therapists to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and help support the body towards maintaining health. Nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing. 

Nutritional Therapy treats the body as a whole while seeking the root cause of health concerns, rather than simply treating the symptoms. It promotes the benefits of good, wholesome, unprocessed foods, supplements and changes to lifestyle to promote optimum health. This therapy works in synergy with your body, ensuring that you have all the nutrients needed to support your natural healing mechanisms.

Why Nutritional Therapy?

Some people simply want to check that they are on the right track with regard to healthy eating. Others may want to lose weight or get help with their symptoms.

Nutrition and lifestyle focused healthcare have been shown to support the health of all the major systems of the body (skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, excretory, endocrine, immune, reproductive and integumentary [skin, hair, nails]).

There are a wide range of laboratory functional tests that can be used to identify nutrient deficiencies or biochemical imbalance and where possible, NHS tests will be recommended.

What is involved

Before the first consultation, Lenka will usually provide a health and nutrition questionnaire, and 3-day food diary for the client to complete. This provides some background information which will enable her to use your consultation time most effectively. An initial consultation typically lasts 90 minutes.

During the consultation the following areas will be discussed:

  • current health concerns

  • symptoms

  • diagnosis and treatment

  • medical history

  • lifestyle

  • levels of physical activity

  • use of medication and supplements

  • diet

To develop a personalised, safe and effective nutrition and lifestyle program, Lenka evaluates individual needs and uses an extensive evidence base. During the consultation she’ll discuss with you whether functional tests would be useful to determine underlying causes or nutritional deficiencies, and recommend nutritional supplements where appropriate.

Following the consultation (within 24-48 hrs), you will receive an personalised  Health Plan summarising your health goals and providing dietary and lifestyle recommendations. You will also receive a Supplement Plan where relevant. 

The length of treatment is individual to the patient. However a follow-up treatment is usually recommended 2-4 weeks later to assess your progress, answer any questions you may have, review the test results together and make any necessary adjustments. Further follow-ups may be required depending on each individual situation and how quickly your body responds to Nutritional Therapy and the severity of your symptoms.​

Initial consultations are preferably carried out in person, but when needed follow up consultations can take place by phone or Skype.

about Lenka

Lenka’s passion about healthy diet and lifestyle started years ago while travelling overseas. Even though, she had always been interested in science and tried to keep herself healthy, throughout her life she struggled with many health-related issues including weight issues, chest and ear infections, exhaustion and depression. However, her decision to travel overseas changed her life. Lenka was able reflect on her life and discover what she needed to change in order to become healthier and happier. Since then she has learnt about meditation, breathing exercise, yoga, as well as attendeing many courses, seminars and webinars, with one of them being 3 years course at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London, to develop her knowledge of healthy, natural way of healing the body and mind.
